HI! I'M KAT

I have been interested in how we can all build happier lives for many years. We are fortunate in this age of information and information sharing to know so much more about how our brains work, the psychology of positive and the science of how best to attain our goals and dreams.

Between the mid 19th and 20th centuries, psychology was focused on the negative. The how to deal with negative mental health. This is incredibly important but since the mid 20th century there has been a re-emergence of positive psychology as well. This is the psychology that looks at the elements that help us to live happier lives. It can be applied to everyone, whether they suffer from negative mental health or not. I think this means we are now living in an age of incredible potential. I would like to see the application of positive psychology and the knowledge of how human minds work to the whole of society, and especially to young people through schools. Let’s educate our children to give them the tools to grow with happy minds. To understand themselves in a way we perhaps didn’t. This I believe would equate to a happier society as a whole

Most people will experience negative mental health at some point in their lives. I have been on a path to try and understand why this is. What is it about my brain and how I live my life that lends itself to either the negative or the positive.

Why is there a seemingly ‘natural’ human negative outlook? How can we understand our own negative thoughts; identify them and address them without causing ourselves suffering? What do we know about the human condition that can help us towards a happier path? What tools can be employed in our daily lives in the quest to identify and reach our own goals and dreams?

I am no professional in the area of psychology and I do not purport that what you read here will help you along your path, though I truly hope it does. But I have years of experience dealing with my own depression and anxiety. I have read and studied some of the leading minds in the area. I have experienced different therapies and approaches. I am thoughtful about the things I have learnt and the people around me. I’m still learning and putting into practice what I learn. I would simply like to share this information and the observations I have made along my brick road.

  • Understanding the negative mind – why we think the way we do

  • Understanding the findings of positive psychology – to help us build happier paths

  • Practical tools for building our happier yellow brick roads

  • Goal setting and reaching – advice on how we can identify our goals, plan and succeed in reaching those goals (hopefully while having fun!)
